This simple black dress has been all that I have really wanted to wear for the past three weeks, and it’s probably about time someone stops me.
Simple Clean Lines
Square necklines are generally not something that I gravitate towards as I never really found one that complimented my shape, however, I came across this dress on the ‘Last Chance’ rail at Topshop the other week and thought I would just try it on. I love the clean line across the top, the thin, no fuss straps and the split on the left side. Although it is a size too big, I generally enjoy belting my dresses anyway to highlight my waist. For my frame, I find that I need to emphasise my waist in most of my outfits to give me some shape, or I end up looking like a sack of potatoes.
Slip dresses are a wardrobe staple for me. They look good with sneakers, boots and sandals. They can be dressed up or down. Worn with a leather jacket, a sweater or a cardigan. Can you tell my love for them?
Now let’s talk about these shoes! Apparently, we are going into Autumn although it doesn’t feel like it as the days haven’t really been getting colder. And one of the obvious textures associated with this season is velvet. I adore the pointed toe and the bow at the top. I think they go with this dress well and give it a more polished look.
Wendy’s Secret Garden
Tucked away in North Sydney you will find the quiet haven of Wendy’s Secret Garden. I really love this part of the city and the story behind this garden is very bittersweet. Needing to somehow use the pain and grief she felt of her husband’s death (and then her only daughter’s), Wendy channelled this energy into clearing up this unused railway land at the foot of her house.
She truly made this area a small oasis, away from the craziness of a city. At every turn, you can find beautiful flowers, areas to sit and have a picnic, little nooks to hide away in. Needless to say, I really like how the pictures came out.
